Malcolm Easton has been a collector and tinkerer all his life. Born in New York, he's now a longtime resident of Northern California. His still life photographs center on commonplace objects and materials. His engagement with photography began at age ten when he first encountered a stereoscope. Since then, he has explored several types of media including black-and-white Polaroids and 35mm transparencies. His technical background led him to digital photography in 2007. Though he works in a studio, he uses only natural light. His essential tool is a handheld mirror that he uses to direct sunlight onto his subjects.
